Android App: Failed to connect to server after re-entering the app after an extended time

So I’ve had this issue since getting the app on the S21. Opening the app, it checks notifications fine and works properly, then if I leave the app, and come back to it, even from a notification, it just displays “failed to connect to server” and I have to close the app and open it again. It used to work fine on my Note 9, so I’m not sure whats causing this to happen with the S21.
